KRATOM- is a tropical evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia, particularly in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Papua New Guinea. Its scientific name is Mitragyna speciosa. The leaves of the tree have been traditionally used for centuries in those regions as a natural remedy for various purposes such energy, relief from discomfort, and mood enhancement. Kratom is often categorized into different strains based on the color of the leaf veins (red, green or white) and its place of origin. Each strain is said to have unique effects, which can range from stimulating to sedating.  At Downtown Kava we offer three (3) strains as follows: RED-Good for relaxation, relief from discomfort, mild euphoria. GREEN-Provides a balanced mix of energy and relaxation and often used for mood enhancement, a sense of well-being,  focus and mild relief for discomfort. WHITE-Stimulating and energizing. KAVA is a beverage made from the roots of the Piper methysticum plant, a member of the pepper family native to the South Pacific Islands. The active compounds in Kava are called Kavalactones which interact with the GABA receptors in the brain to promote relaxation and reduces stress. It can also aid with insomnia and restlessness when taken in the evening.
